Big numbers deserve a big entrance. Tally counts your KPI up from zero - then re-counts the instant your data changes, so every filter lands with impact. Try it live: change the Region filter and watch it climb to the new total, then switch the metric, font or abbreviation to make it your own.

How to install Tally in Tableau - step-by-step for Desktop, Server & Cloud

On Tableau Desktop (viz extension - lives on a worksheet)

  1. Download the extension file: tally.trex - a small manifest your browser saves locally.
  2. On a worksheet (Tableau 2024.2+), open the Marks card menu → Add Extension → Access Local Extensions, and pick the .trex.
  3. Drop your field(s) onto the Marks card shelves the extension adds.
  4. Set it up via the Format Extension button on the Marks card (and re-open it there anytime).

To publish to Tableau Server / Cloud

An admin allows it once in Settings → Extensions (same screen on Tableau Server & Cloud) - turn on “Let users run extensions” and add to the safe list either:

  • just this extension (most precise): https://extensions.byantichaos.com/Tally/
  • all Antichaos extensions (regex wildcard): https://extensions.byantichaos.com/.*

Then it runs for everyone who views the dashboard - nothing to install per viewer.
